Light Colored Bridesmaids Dresses March 20, 2013

Soft color for bridesmaids have been every brides dream lately! Colors from champagne to coral to blush for the beautiful ladies. These colors just scream spring and summer weddings. They compliment almost all skin tones, and really lend themselves to the soft and romantic bridal styling.

You can pair these soft pinks, and oranges with almost any color flowers, and they go perfect with soft browns and natural looking decor.

When choosing colors for your bridesmaids, make sure to remember that light colors do need special considerations when photographed in sunlight. It is recommended that before your wedding day, you have one of the bridesmaids wear the dress, and go outside to see how it looks. Some colors might be better with a pair of Spanx under them to prevent any problems in your wedding photos!

Allure Bridals Trunk Show – March 1,2,3 February 12, 2013

We are proud to announce we will be hosting an Allure Bridals Trunk Show the weekend of March 1,2 and 3. Trunk shows are very busy, and appointments are required. Please schedule in advance if you would like to attend.

Trunk shows are a very unique experience for brides because the vendors send us dresses that we do not currently have in our store for one weekend only. During this weekend, you have the opportunity to try on the  bridal gowns. This makes for an exciting day, because you have even more beautiful wedding dresses to choose from than the average day!  Keep in mind, the dresses are only here for the weekend, so you will only have select days to try on these styles if you are interested in them.

Blushing Bride November 27, 2012

I’m sure by now you have all seen the blush/pink wedding dress trend! My question is…would you dare to be a “blushing bride”?

It seems to make a bold statement walking down the aisle not wearing the traditional white or Ivory. The fact of the matter is that these colors are refreshing and they are amazingly attractive and flattering on a multitude of skin tones! This trend is not for everyone, but it does have many attractive qualities. You will really make a statement at your wedding and stand out from the other brides getting married in the same year as you! There are also many different ways to style a blush themed wedding!

For instance, you could wear a blush tone bridal gown and your bridesmaids could be in white! That would really make Grandma nervous! Along with the bridesmaids the groomsmen could wear a pale grey tuxedo…handsome! Your flowers could be soft shades of ivory, peach, pink and green…so pretty!

If you are looking to stand out, there are many wedding dress styles that come in blush tones, but if you are looking for a more traditional approach to your bridal gown, the styles  still come in white and ivory!!!

We will be closed for Thanksgiving Weekend – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

We are very sorry for an inconveniences this may cause, but we will be closed the entire weekend for Thanksgiving. We will however be taking appointments on Sunday the 18th of November. Halloween Hours – 2012 October 23, 2012

2nd Annual Bride Wars…For the Fight Against Cancer October 9, 2012

For the entire month of October we will be hosting our second annual Bride Wars…For the Fight Against Cancer. 5% of total sales for the month will be donated to the Siteman Cancer Center in St Louis, MO.

We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and know just how tough it is to go through treatment. We believe that every little penny that they can spend researching new and advanced ways of treatment and prevention will help.

Styled Wedding Shoot With Some of St. Louis’ Most Talented Wedding Vendors! June 15, 2012

We recently had the opportunity to participate in a staged photo shoot with some of St Louis’ most talented wedding professionals. It was so much fun, and we are so proud to know and work with so many wonderful people in the wedding industry.

If you are still in the process of planning your wedding you need to look into some of these vendors!

The photo shoot was staged, which means that although these two beauties look smitten, actually they are models and not really getting hitched! The dresses, flowers, props and talent were all real though! This wonderful collaboration of minds was the brain child of photographer Laurie Nowling, the owner of Bliss Eleven Photography studio in St Charles, MO. All of the vendors contributed their specialties to the shoot, going with the theme, 1950′s coral and mint! Can I just say again…it was so fun!! I will give you a brief introduction to the vendors so that you can check them out for yourselves…you’ll be so glad you did!!

The photos were taken by Bliss Eleven Photography Studios. They are amazing! Laurie, the owner has a very good eye. She shoots with a photojournalistic style, so even if the day of your photos feel staged or posed, they will not turn out that way!! She has a way of angling the camera and working miracles with lighting that not every photo professional can accomplish! They just started doing weddings recently and they love them! Check out her wedding blog and you will see what I mean!

The flowers were from Les Bouquets…and they were stunning! Melinda is so creative with her work and her flowers are a very eclectic mix that pleases the eye. She is so sweet and really understands real style.

The cake was done by Whipt Cream…how adorable! They are a St Louis bakery that makes the most adorable cakes, and cupcakes. Not only are they cute, but they also use all natural ingredients!

The super adorable wedding invitations and paper stationary was done by Paper Frosting. They do anything from pre-designed stationary to fully custom designed invitations.

The super adorable vintage props were from Worn Vintage Rentals if you are in the market for super unique adorable rentals for your wedding these ladies are who you need to talk to! They have tons of adorable vintage pieces that you can rent and they are extremely creative. They will bring the pieces to you and set them up, and you will be impressed!

Last but not least…the wedding dresses were from none other than…yours truly!

Bridal Market March 29, 2012

We just got home from National Bridal Market in Chicago, and the bridal gowns were amazing!! So excited to see the new dresses flowing into our store. They will all be here around the middle of the summer….perfect timing for weddings next spring! Hard to believe we are already planning for next spring!

Some trends that you will be seeing…color!! Last market there were color influences in the gowns, but this season it is all about the champagne and blush colors in the dresses! The dresses are still offered in white and ivory, but more and more styles are offered in beautiful sherbet colors. The colors are gorgeous and will look amazing on most skin tones.

The gowns still have a strong whimsical feel to them, lots of dresses with beautiful lace or full bottoms with little to no pattern. This style lends itself well to the all popular DIY wedding trend. It will look wonderful with all of your Pinterest boards! Think country chic with all of your mismatched bottles and wildflowers!

There were also a lot of gowns offered with keyhole backs and straps. This is good, because we have had a lot of requests for creative straps on dresses.

Can’t wait to get the dresses in our store so that you can see them!!!

W-Too Trunk Show!!! March 14, 2012

We are proud to announce that we will be hosting a W-Too trunk show April 27-29!!!

Trunk shows are always a fun event, and a great opportunity to see the whole line from a season’s collection. We will have all of the dresses from the W-Too Spring 2012 collection.

Well, there’s no denying that spring is soon approaching…which also means that wedding season is almost here!! While planning for your big day don’t forget the little things.

We would all like to think that nothing will go wrong on our day…but we have to face reality in knowing that little things will happen throughout the day. Putting together a little emergency kit beforehand will make these little moments easy to manage.

What you need:

• Band-Aids
• Pain Reliever
• Anti-persperant
• Toothbrush
• Cotton Balls
• Bottle of Water
• Dental Floss
• Clear nail polish
• Spanx – Just in case!! :)
• Hair tie/bobby pins
• Hem Tape/Double-sided tape
• Safety Pins
• Static Cling Spray
• Straws
• Tissues
• Tweezers – Great for fastening covered buttons
• Small folding scissors
• Tampon
• Granola bar
• Hairspray

You can put this all together in a cute little bag just for moments that you may have a mini emergency. You may never need anything in this little bag of tricks, but it is always better to have then to need!! If you are anything like me…you probably have no idea how to style your hair!!! This is one of the most important parts of the wedding planning process, because you want to look beautiful…and your pictures will last forever! For some reason, it proves to be one of the most difficult tasks of wedding planning.

For starters, you need to find a hairstyle that fits both your personal style and the style of your wedding gown. For this I suggest the wonderful and lovely…Lilith Moon! Check her out on youtube and on her website. She makes hairstyling look like tying your shoes…and we all know this is not how it actually works for non-hairstylists…but she is very creative. Once you find something you like, save it to every smart device you own and take it to your hairstylist.

Then, you need to decide who is going to be the lucky one to DO your wedding hair. You need to find someone you trust with this important duty. First…shop around. Call different salons and look at their websites. Ask friends/family if they can make any good suggestions. Then…most importantly…do your homework! And start early…no late assignments accepted! Go to the salon and ask for a practice run of the wedding style you would like. This will make you feel more at ease on your wedding day.

Last but not least…don’t settle! If you don’t like it…tell her!!! Hairstylists are professionals and they need feedback to make sure they are going to get great referrals from you!! Have fun!!

Why we love Alfred Sung….this line is the perfect combination of vintage and modern. They have sweet designs that are reminiscent of times past, but they also have very modern colors and designs in their line.  The bridesmaid dresses have a very polished and classic look that will look great with any bridal gown style you pair them with.

They are also one of the best lines to use if you want all of your bridesmaids to have a different style dress. They are very flexible as far as fabric and length are concerned. Most of the styles come in long length as well as cocktail length. Also, they only offer two different fabrics in the line, and you can choose which one you want in your wedding! This means that any style you like can also come in the fabric that you want! Novel idea, right!!

Do you Pinterest???

WARNING: This site is totally and utterly addicting!!!

If you do not currently use Pinterest…you are missing out! I do not know how I planned my wedding without this ridiculously useful tool. It could possibly be the best way to get/organize all of your wedding ideas in one convenient location. Bridal magazines beware! Why use all of those cutouts when you can just pin your ideas to the correct board and then just log in to see them later! Saves so much time and energy.

So what is it? It is a virtual tool that allows you to search pictures of everything under the sun and find what inspires you. Once you find something inspirational you just “pin it” to your virtual design board, and then you can go back and look at it anytime you want. You just log in to your account and everything is  in one place all nice and organized for you! Bottom line…it is amazing and you need to try it!

We just wanted to say thank you to all of you who made a purchase during the month of October. We were able to make a donation that we are proud of to Siteman Cancer Center in St Louis, Missouri. Cancer has somehow touched all of our lives, and every little donation helps. Without funds for research, scientists will never find a cure. This is something that is very important to us here, and we will look forward to doing this event for years to come. Hopefully each year will be more successful than the next!

Fall 2011 Bridal Market October 13, 2011

We just recently got back from Bridal Market in Chicago! It is so inspiring to see all of the new designs that these geniuses come up with! It amazes me how dresses all for one purpose…marriage…can all be so different. There were some new things that we saw, but there is one trend that is continuing….texture! If there was one common thread that I had to pick from all the different lines at market it would be texture, in all shapes and forms…literally!

There are some exciting colors showing through in bridal also. White is so last year! Allure came out with a new color that they call cream. But the new exciting colors that they have are champagne and pearl pink! They are beautiful! When I say color don’t be scared…think Vera Wang. She has these magical hues that she adds to dresses to give them just a hint of color that compliments skin tones just perfectly! Pretty much like that…but affordable!

There are many new and exciting dress coming soon to White Traditions! Check out our Facebook in a few weeks and I will post some of the pictures of what we ordered.

The dresses will be here around the first of the year. Don’t get too excited now! If you are interested in seeing the new collection when it comes in just give us a call, we will put you on our list and give you a ring when they get here.

Bride Wars….For The Fight Against Cancer

For the month of October, White Traditions Bridal House will be donating 5% of our total sales to the Siteman Cancer Center in St Louis, MO.

Siteman Cancer is an international leader in cancer research, treatment, and prevention. They are located in St Louis, and provide state-of -the-art treatment for more than 8,000 cancer patients each year. They are a leader in cancer prevention education programs also.

We all have loved someone who has battled this horrible disease, so this is an important cause for us. Together we can make a difference!
